Dungeons and Raids

Ashes of Creation will be a seamless open-world experience.[2]

  • No loading time or loading screens between regions.

There will be open world dungeons and raids. The aspiration is to maintain the open world feel while being able to capitalize on the benefits of instanced mechanics.[3]

  • Instancing is only going to happen in certain dungeons where the desire is to have greater narrative appeal. Outside of these and arenas there will not be too much instancing anywhere else.[2]
  • There will be an 80/20 split between open world vs instanced encounters.[4][5]

The PvP flagging system presents an opportunity for open conflict.[6]

PvP Arenas

Arenas are instanced PvP scenarios and are not part of open world PvP.[8]

Instanced apartments

Apartments are internal only spaces within a node that offer some housing functionality.[17]

Players can purchase instanced apartments within a Town (stage 4 node) or above, if apartment complexes have been developed within that node.[17]

  • There will be 50 apartments available for purchase at the town stage if the node's mayor chooses to construct apartment buildings in the node, if there is an available plot.[18][19]
  • The number of available apartments increases as a normal part of node advancement.[19]

The mayor may additionally construct apartment buildings when the node hits stage 4 at one of the building plots in the node, along with cities gaining additional static housing and apartments by default as a normal part of the leveling process.[19]Steven Sharif

Server instancing

There won't be server channels (sharding) on a server.[20][21]
