Name reservations were rewards for backing at the Pioneer level and higher and are currently available through the Voyager plus pre-order pack.[1][2]

  • Accounts will have name reservation tokens, that entitle its holder to reserve a name on a specific server when the reservation time comes.[3]

Name reservation priority

Name reservations will be allocated from the highest backer tier to the lowest backer tier.[4]

  1. Kickstarter backer tiers, highest to lowest.[5]
  2. Summer crowdfunding backer tiers, highest to lowest.[5]
  3. Pre-order packs purchased from the web store.[5]

Within each tier, the name reservations are on a first-come-first-served basis.[5]

Name reservations were slated to begin during Alpha-1.[6]

Guild name reservation

Guild name reservation was available in the Braver of worlds and higher backer packages during the Kickstarter and Summer crowdfunding campaigns.[7][8]

Server reservations

Server reservations allow guild members as well as unaffiliated players to reserve character slots on a server starting in the Beta testing stages of the game.[9]

This would likely be utilized more so by guilds than that would be solo or unaffiliated players; and I believe that the solo player they may have friends that they want to play with. That's fine, they can also still with those friends do the reservation system, but the player who is just joining the game fresh and doesn't have a community that they're part of, I don't think they really mind in that regard and will not utilize that system.[9]Steven Sharif

Character names

Characters will have a first-name and an optional surname (last name).[10]

  • There is a minimum length of three for a character name.[12]
  • Special characters, including apostrophes and hyphens, are currently not allowed in character names.[13]
Currently we don't allow special characters in character names (including apostrophes and/or hyphens). It's possible this changes in the future.[13]Ry Schueller

Character names will appear on the character sheet and optionally on the character website page.[14]

  • In-game a character's name is displayed above their head. This can be the first or last name.[14]

A character's nameplate is displayed above their head.[14]

  • This can be the first, and optionally last name (surname).[14]
  • The name of the character's Guild is displayed next to their name.[15]
  • The character's nameplate will deteriorate to give an indication of how much damage they have taken.[16][17][18]
  • An icon will identify the character's class.[19]
  • Hovering over the user's nameplate will show information such as level, their class name and archetype combo.[19]
  • A buff icon indicates the character's gear and grade.[19][20][21]
  • The visibility of the character nameplate can be obscured by in-game objects, such as trees; by utility skills, such as Camouflage or Stealth; or through the use of disguises.[22][23]
  • Summoner summons' creature type appears in the nameplate above the summon. This cannot be changed by the player.[24]
