Chat bubbles
Chat bubbles will be able to be toggled on or off by players. There will be options to manage the bubbles to reduce visual clutter.[10][11]
We do want to include chat bubbles. We do want to include a host of options that will allow you to manage those bubbles so you can turn them on, you don't see just a field of bubbles.[11] – Jeffrey Bard
Voice controls
Raid and party leaders are able to control Voice chat.[12][13]
- Toggle (global) mute on the entire raid.[13]
- Define who has global speech capacity across the entire raid.[14]
- Granting administrative functions to raid and party members.[12]
If you are joined in raid where you have multiple squads that have connected into a raid for the castle sieges, the leaders of those squads will be able to communicate across all members of squad. So let's say you have five teams of four, for a total of twenty people within a particular raid... there are five that have global speech capacity; and then in those individual parties they'll also have their own inter-voice communication. So party leader will be able to hear their party members and the party members will hear each other, but they'll also be able to hear other party leaders speak as well.[14] – Steven Sharif
Tavern communications
Taverns offer private chat and voice communications for all patrons within the building.[6]
- Tavern proximity voice chat may be available based on testing.[15]

Localization
Ashes of Creation is aiming to be available in the following languages: English, French, German, Russian, Italian, Polish, Spanish, and Portuguese.[20][21][22][23]
- Previously it was stated that English, French, German, and Russian will be supported then Italian, Polish and Spanish be added later.[21][24]
- Other languages are being considered based on interest.[20][22][23]
- User interface localization tools are available in the chat window.[25]
The current plan is for Ashes of Creation to be available in the following languages: English, French, German, Russian, Italian, Polish, Spanish, and Portuguese. Although this may not be the final list of languages we support, we are still looking at which other languages into which the game may be translated.[20]
Servers won't be language locked.[22]
Voice acting
- NPCs will have voice acted audio greetings.[26][27]
- Certain bosses and creatures will have voice lines along with other audio cues.[28]
- Narrated quest lines are not currently planned for launch.[26] It has been stated that adding voice acting into the game at a later point will be a fairly cosmetic change.[26]
- Is it difficult to add voice acting later? No, it's definitely not... It's a fairly cosmetic change.[26] – Steven Sharif
- I think that some of the technology and the advancements that we've seen, not just within the gaming industry but a broad scope of AI influence, is something that we are keeping a close eye on and we have some plans to investigate and inspect a few of the designs and approaches that we've taken, particularly as it relates I think to this question and AI voiceover potential to influence our narrative loops and how players interact with general AI dialogue; and there is an opportunity there, but it's not one that we have fully explored yet, although it is on the docket for the first part of next year for us to analyze what potential exists from a leveraging standpoint for this new tech; and I would say, stay tuned next year as we give updates. You'll likely see some things, perhaps even in Alpha-2 that could relate to that, we'll see. But, it is something we are aware of and we are keeping close tabs on how to integrate and leverage as part of Ashes.[29] – Steven Sharif
