Generic Gaming Abbreviations

Adds The reinforcements that a boss summons.
Aggro To have hostile attention from NPCs. Also referred to as threat or hatred.
AFK Away From Keyboard.
BRB Be Right Back.
BBL Be Back Later.
CD Cooldown or The time to refresh an ability.
DPS Damage per second.
XP/EXP Experience Points.
Gank 'Ganking' usually indicates an unwelcome attack on an unwilling or unsuspecting participant.
Griefer A player who deliberately irritates and harasses other players. Many MMOs enforce rules that forbid griefing.
HoT Heal over Time, An effect that restores health over a period of time; antonym of DoT.
Kiting A maneuver in which a player-character gets an enemy NPC to chase after them so as to lead them somewhere else (like a kite on a string).
GG Used as parting words exchanged at the end of a competitive game or match as a gesture of good sportsmanship.
WP Well Played, Used in the same way as "gg".
GF Good Fight, Also used as the same was as "gg".
NT Nice Try, an expression used to honor a failed attempt that was close to succeeding.
META/Meta Very common, strong ways of playing the game. Often in the context of character builds or combat tactics.
Min-Maxing Creating the "best" character by means of minimizing undesired or unimportant traits and maximizing desired ones.
Mob Mob is a term for an in-game enemy who roams a specific area. An Enemy NPC.
nerf A change intended to weaken a particular item, ability, or character, for balancing purposes.
Ninja looting To unfairly loot the corpse of a fallen enemy.
NPC A computer-controlled character or any character that is not under a player's direct control.
OOM Out Of Mana.
OTW/OMW On the way/On my way.
PUG Pick-up group.
Rubber Banding The result of network latency during a multiplayer game; players teleporting to locations. (lag)
Teabagging An act usually considered disrespectful and provocative, consisting of a player-character repeatedly crouching and standing back up right next to or over a knocked down or dead opponent.
Trash Non-boss mobs in dungeons and raids.
