Alpha-1 Niküa naval caravan 3D render.[1]

Caravans are capable of transitioning from land to naval caravans. So if you start out as a land-based Caravan and you move to the coast and you want to move into the water there's gonna be a little transition period there; it's gonna be a little construction site: You're not gonna have to do anything it's just gonna be a timer right so that you can't quickly move between land and water. It's gonna be probably in the matter of a minute to two minutes. There's a little bit of vulnerability in that regard.[2]Steven Sharif

Naval caravans (also referred to as raft caravans) allow the transportation of cargo over the water.[3][4][5]

Naval caravan initiation

Naval caravans (also referred to as raft caravans) are capable of transitioning to and from land caravans at the point of intersection of land and water.[3][6][2][5]

  • There will be a delay of one or two minutes while the caravan transitions while a conversion structure spawns. This introduces a small window of vulnerability.[3][6][2]
  • The conversion structure does not benefit from damage mitigation points of land or naval caravans, so it's a very weak position to be in.[7]
There's two kinds of methods to crossing rivers: One of them is with bridges, which are constructed by mayors and players, but the other method is via a transformation into a raft... It'll make you a little bit of a sitting duck while you're transitioning. Once you're in the water you'll get a nice speed boost from the currents; and it's a alternate means to getting stuck on the choke points that are bridges.[3]Chris Justo

Hijacking ships

Certain ships can be hijacked, destroyed and looted, but the ships themselves cannot be permanently captured.[8][9]

Naval content

Naval content refers to content above and below the sea.[12][13]

Enhanced naval content was unlocked as part of the $1,500,000 Kickstarter stretch goal.[18]

There will not initially be naval content (such as a Dark Lake) in the Underrealm, but this may be something that gets added in future expansions.[19]

There won't be class abilities that are specific to naval content, but some utility skills (such as underwater breathing) may be of some benefit.[20]
